Donald Sterling Banned From The NBA For Life, Fined $2.5 Million

Donald Sterling, the soon to be ex-LA Clippers owner who’s racist comments made major headlines, is banned from the NBA for life.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver made the announcement Tuesday afternoon, and is also fining Sterling a maximum of $2.5 million.

From the New York Times:

“The views expressed by Mr. Sterling are deeply offensive and harmful. We stand together in condemning Mr. Sterling’s views. They simply have no place in the N.B.A.”

According to Silver, Sterling verified it was him who made the comments last week in a leaked audio recorded by alleged mistress V. Stiviano.

Silver says he expects to receive complete support in getting Sterling to sell his ownership in the LA Clippers. On Twitter, hashtag #BannedForLife is currently the number one trending topic in the United States.
