For the last few years, Conor McGregor has been the wonderboy of the UFC, he wrecked everybody in his path until going up a weight class to fight Nate Diaz in early March when he lost by submission. Even if you don’t know anything about the UFC, you might recognize him, he’s on SportsCenter all the time as that little Irish guy who talks a LOT of trash.

If you’re not that familiar with “Notorious”, here’s a short clip of him at a press conference before a fight. The way this guy talks makes Muhammad Ali look like a model of humility.

But in the last few weeks there have been a lot of odd turns in the life of Conor McGregor. He announced that he was going to fight Nate Diaz again in UFC 200 then the bout was changed, then, just recently, Dana White announced that he was pulling McGregor from the UFC 200 ticket because the Irishman didn’t show up at a press conference.

And then, several hours ago, this tweet emerged from his verified account.

So what does it mean that perhaps the most fiery fighter that we’ve seen in the past few years is retiring? Twitter is a haven for MMA junkies and they were quick to ring in on the subject of McGregor’s retirement.

Only the future can tell what’s left for Conor McGregor and the UFC. McGregor is just one of many fighters who complain about Dana White (the owner of the UFC), lets see if the loss of his biggest fighter causes him to change his ways.
