Cancer is still among the top killers in the world when it comes to diseases, there is no denying that. In fact, there are about 1.7 million estimated cases of cancer in the United States alone, with about 600,000 deaths estimated as a consequence. That is a lot of people whose deaths could have been avoided had cancer treatment been more readily available, or perhaps even less painful.
Thankfully, there is now a new silver bullet in medicine called immunotherapy treatment. It is essentially a new major category of cancer treatment, the other being chemotherapy which is immensely painful since it also damages healthy cells, not just cancer cells. Unlike chemotherapy, immunotherapy is a lot more natural and actually trains the human body’s natural defenses to detect and kill cancer cells.

This means a lot less damage than the usual chemotherapy. Recently, immunotherapy has been making quite a breakthrough, involving one lucky 73-year-old John Ryan who had been diagnosed with lung cancer. Ryan was one of the successful recipients of an immunotherapy treatment after having experienced chemotherapy. Ryan stated that his chemotherapy treatment nearly killed him and his life has improved immensely after switching over to immunotherapy.
Right now, Ryan is enjoying his well-deserved remission state, which has been unusually long now for the 73-year-old, thanks in part to the immunotherapy cancer treatment. A new hope may soon be available for a lot of cancer patients, at the moment, only a minority of patients are undergoing the said treatment. If more success stories like Ryan’s keep happening though, then it could only be a matter of time before immunotherapy becomes more available.
