Britain’s Prime Minister David Cameron took to the web over the weekend and decided to join social networking behemoth Twitter. Cameron is the newest of many world leaders who have begun to embrace the platform for its ability to create trends and quickly reach out to a massive audience.
At the time of this post the @David_Cameron account has more than 94,000 followers.
The Prime Minister isn’t just logging on to leave messages, already choosing to follow 34 accounts including several members of government including British Foreign Secretary William Hague and London Mayor Boris Johnson.
For his first Tweet David Cameron promised not to send “too many tweets” to his followers:
I’m starting Conference with this new Twitter feed about my role as Conservative Leader. I promise there won’t be “too many tweets…”
