When Bill Gates puts his stamp of approval on something, he really takes it all the way. Bill Gates’ latest charitable undertaking is helping solve the clean water crisis in underdeveloped parts of the world. Gates says more than 2 billion people don’t have access to proper sanitation the way the first world citizens do. Excess waste without proper disposal leads to waterborne illness, since it contaminates the drinking water sources. A new machine called the Janicki Omniprocessor may solve both of these problems. To prove his point, Gates drinks some of the water processed through the new machine.
Besides sampling the freshly sanitized water, Gates explains the process and workings behind the Janicki Omniprocessor.
The video explains how the giant machine takes the human waster and boils it at a very high temperature. This boiling process creates electricity. The remaining water vapor is re-liquified. This liquid is then put through a purifying process. In less than five minutes, the machine has created clean, drinking water.
Bill Gates believes this could drastically help combat the water contamination problem. What do you think?
