Ann Coulter on World Cup: “No American whose great-grandfather was born here is watching soccer.”

Ann Coulter soccer

Ann Coulter proves yet again that her finger is about as far away from the pulse of the nation as it can be by making outlandish comments against the success of the USA soccer team and insinuating that real Americans don’t follow soccer.

In her weekly rant she made the following claim:

“If more “Americans” are watching soccer today, it’s only because of the demographic switch effected by Teddy Kennedy’s 1965 immigration law. I promise you: No American whose great-grandfather was born here is watching soccer. One can only hope that, in addition to learning English, these new Americans drop their soccer fetish with time.”

and cue the usual comments on Twitter:

Surprisingly The Huffington Post joined in mocking her.

Let’s see what she has to say if Team USA win again next Tuesday! Maybe she be rooting for the Belgians?
