Crime fans can now get their hands on the home of one of the most famous detectives in literature.

Shelock Holmes’ family estate in Trewallter, Wales, is up for sale, or at least the one featured in the award-winning BBC TV show.

The detective, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, and his sidekick Dr Watson (Martin Freeman), filmed several scenes on the property throughout its seven-year run.

Now, the six-bedroom manor has gone on the market, and you don’t have to be a fan of the show to realise it’s incredible.

The Grade II listed building includes three reception rooms, a barn and stables, plus multiple outbuildings, all set on one and a half acres of land.

As you may have guessed, the property comes with a hefty price tag, and is currently on sale for £950,000.

Belinda Bishop, a Branch Partner at Chewton Rose – the estate agents handling the sale – said: “For almost 50 years, Trewallter Fawr has been a magnificent family home and the current owners have relished its exquisite features and countryside setting.

“It was Sherlock Holmes’ parents’ house in the BBC drama series. There was a scene where Sherlock was picked up by helicopter and they used CGI to make it look like the helicopter landed on the front lawn.

“It is thought that parts date back to the late Elizabethan or early Stuart periods, but it is likely a home stood on the site even earlier.”

The home still has many of its original features, such as an inglenook fireplace, a Medieval beehive bread oven, and flagstone floors.

The BBC’s adaption of the novels by Sir Arthur Conon Doyle ran from 2010 to 2017 and won multiple BAFTAs, Emmys, and even a British Television Craft Award.
