Wall Street Journal Editor Liz Heron Heads To Facebook

Liz Heron

Facebook recently launched its news reader Paper, and today former Wall Street Journal editor Liz Heron announced her new position at the social network.

Heron’s official title was editor of emerging media, and here’s what her new job will entail:

“In this new role, I’ll have the opportunity to work directly on how Facebook partners with journalists and media organizations, at a time when Facebook is putting a big emphasis on news and mobile, two things close to my professional heart.”

With the introduction of Trending Topics in January, Facebook is joining the ranks of news-hungry social networks like Twitter in an effort to become more than just a place to post about “What’s on your mind?”

Heron mentions journalists using Facebook to find leads, build communities and even encourages journalists to get in touch with any ideas.

Before heading to work at The Wall Street Journal, Liz Heron was successful at The Washington Post and New York Times, so it’ll be interesting to see what Facebook has in store.
