The Indie rock band Vampire Weekend is playing a concert on Sunday night at the Tribeca Film Festival and the show will be broadcast live on YouTube.
The concert is being directed by none other than Steve Buscemi and will air live at 9 p.m. ET.
The show which is part of the American Express Unstaged concert series will be influenced by Twitter users. Users will be able to help choose whether or not the band plays a digital encore.
Viewers can tweet their reactions to #AmexUnstaged at which point they can unlock online-only access to post-show antics from Vampire Weekend. Among those antics will be a backstage performance of White Sky.
AmEx has done a great job promoting the concert via a set of Buscemi starring funny videos that promote the concert.
Unstaged is a concert series that pairs an artist with a well-known director. In the past AmEx has released concerts with Jack White and Gary Goldman and John Legend with Spike Lee, among others.
When Kenny Chesney performed he allowed tweets to dictate an incredibly long nine-song encore.
Susan Hammes, VP of social media marketing at American Express tells Mashable:
“We want to make sure we always have something special just for the digital audience.”
Tonights upcoming Vampire Weekend’s concert celebrates the May 14 release of the indie rock bands album Modern Vampires of the City.
