USC cornerback Josh Shaw was on a second floor patio when he saw his 7-year-old nephew struggling to swim in a pool. The football player leaped to action (literally) to save the boy, spraining both ankles in the process.
Josh Shaw of @USC_Athletics did his Superman impression and saved his nephew from drowning – jumping out of a 2nd floor window. #Captain

Shaw suffered two high ankle sprains when he jumped from the second story of a nearby building. The USC football player then crawled over to the pool to rescue his nephew. Shaw will be sidelined with an injury for the next few weeks but the USC player doesn’t regret his decision.
Shaw said: “I would do it again for whatever kid it was, it did not have to be my nephew … My ankles really hurt, but I am lucky to be surrounded by the best trainers and doctors in the world. I am taking my rehab one day at a time, and I hope to be back on the field as soon as possible.”
Josh Shaw is a perfect example of what we need in this world today! Not shocked or surprised by his actions.

Shaw, who was named captain just a few hours before the incident, is out indefinitely due to his injury. A timetable hasn’t been set for the cornerback’s recovery but don’t expect him to suit up for a month or two.
Coach Steve Sarkisian said: “That was a heroic act by Josh, putting his personal safety aside … But that’s the kind of person he is. It is unfortunate that he’ll be sidelined for a while and we will miss his leadership and play, but I know he’ll be working hard to get back on the field as soon as possible.”
All my respect and prayers go out to Josh Shaw for a speedy recovery. Need more people like that in this world!
