A video last week of a man taking a selfie way too close to a train, and getting kicked in the head quickly went viral, amassing over 23 million views.
Now, according to a report from CBC News, the man in question could earn big money thanks to advertising revenues from the video.
22-year-old Canadian Jared Frank says multiple agencies reached out to him, and he inked a deal with Jukin Media out of California.
“I got all these different offers … and they were all legit.”
Frank claims he was told he could earn anywhere from $2 to $16 per 1,000 views, and will receive a 70 percent share of any earnings.
Factoring in the video receiving another 20 million views, not far outside the realm of possibility, he could see a payday of anywhere from $28,000 on the “low end” to $224,000 on the high end.
Not bad for a video that could have saw Frank get way more than a boot to the head, and more along the lines of what you’d see over on LiveLeak.
“I’m a little worried, but I have a decent relationship with the licensing company, so I trust them. I did a lot of research first.”
Currently attending film school, Jared Frank plans on using the money towards his education, and possibly funding various ideas for future film projects.
