Twitter announced a partnership in December 2012 to create the Twitter TV Rating, and new data published by Nielsen reveals the top 10 TV shows of Fall 2013.
Nielsen analyzed tweets from September 1 to November 30, and ranked TV shows based on four different categories: Average Unique Audience, Average Impressions, Average Unique Authors and Average Tweets.
Here were the top 10 TV shows:
- Breaking Bad
- The Walking Dead
- American Horror Story: Coven
- Scandal
- Dancing With the Stars
- The Voice
- Glee
- The X Factor
- Catfish: The TV Show
- Awkward.
Breaking Bad saw an average unique audience of over six million users, followed by The Walking Dead at just under 4.9 million.
Here’s how each show ranked in average impressions and tweets:
- Breaking Bad: 51,415,000 average impressions, 521,000 average tweets
- The Walking Dead: 28,133,000 average impressions, 490,000 average tweets
- American Horror Story: Coven: 12,177,000 average impressions, 202,000 average tweets
- Scandal: 20,062,000 average impressions, 375,000 average tweets
- Dancing With the Stars: 7,947,000 average impressions, 78,000 average tweets
- The Voice: 7,802,000 average impressions, 208,000 average tweets
- Glee: 10,597,000 average impressions, 238,000 average tweets
- The X Factor: 7,185,000 average impressions, 222,000 average tweets
- Catfish: The TV Show: 10,806,000 average impressions, 189,000 average tweets
- Awkward.: 3,132,000 average impressions, 69,000 average tweets
Last month, Twitter launched TV conversation targeting to help networks better target users who are talking about a TV show.
