Tony Hawk Rides A Hoverboard [Video]

Yes, hoverboard’s are real. Hendo unveiled it’s hoverboard earlier this year and now they’ve given it a pretty sweet test ride thanks to Tony Hawk.

The legendary skater just shared a video of himself and Dave Carnie messing around with a Hendo Hoverboard. Check out the video below.

When most people hear the word hoverboard they immediately think of Marty McFly and the Back To The Future movies. But the Hendo Hoverboard isn’t really meant for skating. The company, which is currently trying to raise funds on Kickstarter, said that the hoverboards will be used to move large objects.

Greg Henderson said that these hoverboards will be able to lift a massive amount of weight. This means that they could be used to move construction material, trains, or even buildings.

Henderson said: “About two years ago, we began investigating magnetic field architecture (MFA) and hover technology as a better way to build, move people and move materials. During our research, we discovered a way to transmit electromagnetic technology that is far more efficient than anything else. This means that our patent-pending Hendo Hover Engine technology can enable platforms to hover over non-ferrous materials with payloads of virtually any size and weight … It came from the idea of hovering a building out of harm’s way. If you can levitate a train that weighs 50,000 kilograms, why not a house?”

While that’s amazingly cool, most people still just want to see Michael J. Fox skitching on the back of a pickup truck on a hover board. The above video is probably the closest we’ll ever get to seeing that in real life.
