Life’s a garden. Dig it. David Spade is getting back into character for Joe Dirt 2.
The comedian posted a photo to his Instagram account this morning from the set of Joe Dirt 2. And yes, it includes a glorious mullet.
Spade writes: Day 1. Lets get this shit started! #imjoedirt #whatscrappenin.
Joe Dirt didn’t exactly win critical praise when it was released in 2001 but it has built up a cult following. The comedian is now working on a sequel with the online streaming channel Crackle.
According to Cinema Blend, Spade and company will be filming in New Orleans with the goal of releasing Joe Dirt 2 sometime in 2015. It’s unclear if any of the original cast, including Christopher Walken, Chris Rock, Britney Daniel, Dennis Miller, or Jamie Pressley are returning to the new film. At the moment, only Spade, Maureen Mendoza, and Jillian Nelson are listed on the movie’s IMDB page.
Spade isn’t the only one bringing some old characters back to the screen. Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels just scored a hit with their sequel of Dumb and Dumber. Critic reactions have been mixed but the movie did win the box office this weekend.
Are you excited for a Joe Dirt sequel?
