Tips Based Social Networking App Trusper Raises $6.17M

Trusper app

To bring more knowledgeable people into the social networking space, a new mobile app developer created Trusper, a social network where users can create and discover tips of daily life.

The company, based in Los Gatos was founded by Jack Jia, a serial entrepreneur and investor.

The idea for Trusper spawned in Jia’s head when his friends started asking him for advice on how to go about building things around their house.

Since Jia is a DIY type of guy who loves constructing things, it just made perfect sense.

Jia previously jotted down notes in a notebook from his own past projects for things such as putting up retaining walls. Since he has always intended to eventually publish his tips online, starting Trusper was an opportunity he couldn’t pass up.

Trusper has spent no money on marketing, growing its business from word of mouth starting from a 200 person beta in May 2013 to over 5 million current users.

About 70% of the app’s users are females around the age of 17 to 36 and another 19% of them 13 to 17. The app at its peak is registering 4 million monthly active users.

Trusper, the sharing and discovery platform for tips, tutorials, and how-to guides is available on both iOS and Android.
