In a perfect world, parents would love their children no matter what. But in the world of mommy bloggers, it looks like love is reserved for the child who gets the most likes.

A blogger and mom-of-five has gone viral for all the wrong reasons, after sharing a bizarre post about her oldest son.

Taking to Instagram to wish her son a happy sixth birthday, Katie Bower took the time to complain about how the child didn’t get as many likes as his younger siblings.

“From a statistical point of view, he wasn’t as popular with everyone out there,” she lamented in the image’s caption, while pondering whether people preferred her younger kids because they were babies.

“I saw all that because I want to believe that it wasn’t him … that it was on me. My insufficiency caused this statistical deficit because obviously my Munch should get ALL the love and squinty eyes are totally adorable.”

The blogger later added that she’s concerned that “he will see the numbers” in the future, and will “have to learn that his value is not in online approval.”

Although she probably meant well with the post, the internet was not amused by Bower’s backhanded compliment to her own child.

Even Chrissy Teigan, the queen of clapbacks, got involved

Bower has since taken the post down, but this is not the first time the blogger has faced backlash on social media. In September, Bower caused a furore when she shared a post saying she had “literally no idea what the deal was with 9/11” or that she didn’t realize “that people were actually in the buildings.”
