The Zootopia movie has made a lot of news lately, it pulled in over $50 million last weekend in the United States and did even better overseas. The plot of the film is simple and a bit cliched, a cop isn’t appreciated in her job and thinks that she can do more, she sets out on a rogue adventure. If you’ve seen Beverly Hills Cop, The Other Guys, or any other film featuring a police officer in the last three decades then you have a pretty good idea where this one is coming from. The saving grace of the movie is that this is the first time we’ve ever seen this theme in an animated picture.

Right now the feature boasts a 99% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Deadpool, the other smash hit at the moment, only has 84%. And critics are raving about the film. Peter Travers of The Rolling Stone wrote “the last thing you’d expect from a new Disney animated marshmallow is balls. But, hot damn, Zootopia comes ready to party hard.”
Like most of the new animated films, this one offers something for adults as well

So Zootopia was actually pretty amazing, and not just because it had sloths (though the sloths were obviously the best part tbh)

Zootopia is my favorite movie of the year. Best animated film that tackled racial/gender issues and was still hilarious

The film has a lot adult-oriented themes, but it’s also incredibly family friendly. And yes, there are sloths. Because who doesn’t love sloths?!
If you’re looking for something to see this weekend, Zootopia has got to be our pick.
