During a break between shows on June 28, the Broadway Cast of The Lion King took over a New York City subway and gave a few unsuspecting riders the performance of a lifetime.
Posted to YouTube by Jamal Lee Harris, a Broadway performer, on August 5 has already become a top trending topic on Facebook and gained nationwide coverage. his video description goes on about the performance and subway ride:
“Last year the NYC subway served over 1 billion riders, and last year The Lion King became Broadway’s first $1 billion show. Broadway’s Tony Award winning musical comes to life 8 times a week in the heart of Times Square at The Minskoff Theater.”
The video is great for many reasons: the acoustics in that cart, the lyrics of “Circle of Life” we all pretend to know, and the strangers who are so confused and continue to stand around like a deer in headlights afraid to move.
