The First Instagram From Space Is Exactly What You’d Expect

Instagram

Space is a wild frontier, full of mind-blowingly terrifying explosions and infinite darkness, and Instagram has finally made it outside of planet Earth.

The photo, snapped of American Steven R. Swanson on the International Space Station, is a beautiful glimpse of our planet or a shot of visible stars, right?

Nope. The first Instagram from space is a selfie, the universal language that accompanies all photo taking:

Hey, at least it’s not a photo of freeze-dried spaghetti with a magenta-colored filter. Though, Swanson is easily in the top rankings for best selfie ever.

While Ellen DeGeneres set a new Twitter record with her photo at the Oscars, the astronaut has the Earth as his backdrop while floating on the ISS.

To hopefully see more Instagram photos from space in the near future, you can follow the International Space Station.
