Being unfriended on Facebook can be an awful experience, especially when it’s one of those situations where the friend you desire to keep is super cute and your delicate teenage emotions can’t handle rejection of any kind.
But if you get unfriended, you will sack up and deal. You will not hold the unfriender hostage in her home and throw a pot of boiling water in her face.
Yes, this horrifying thing apparently went down in India, which is quickly becoming the Japan of weird, horrible things happening because of social media.
According to the unnamed 15-year-old victim, the suspect barged into her Muzaffarpur, India, under the pretense of reclaiming a lost ID card. He was a regular at the house, as the girl’s father was his tutor, and she eventually accepted his request for friendship on Facebook.
“I accepted his (Facebook) friend request a year ago because I found him decent then,” she told authorities. “But of late he had become abusive and so I ‘unfriended’ him last week.”
That abuse continued IRL when he locked the girl and her mother inside a room, boiled a quick pot of water, and then dumped it on the girl’s face, giving her severe burns on her cheek and neck.
After that, he ran away. He’s currently at large.
