Teacher ‘Catfishes’ Students, Asked For Nudes On Facebook

Fake profile

Here’s an odd Facebook “catfish” story for you. A 30-year-old Orange County high school teacher was arrested Saturday for allegedly posing as an attractive woman on the social network and asking young male students to send him nude photos.

Zachary Reeder was arrested on suspicion of lewd conduct with a child, child annoyance, and possession and distribution of child pornography. He made a fake Facebook profile for an attractive blonde woman, and asked a few teens (some as young as 14) to send him sexually explicit photos, reports The Daily Dot.

Apparently, none of his “catfish” victims were his own students, and he had no in-person contact with them, according to the Orange County Register. Still, Reeder has been fired, as a Sunday statement said that the “safety and well-being” of students are Servite High School’s highest priority.

Reeder was a social sciences teacher at the high school, which is an all-boys Catholic college prep school in Anaheim. He was also the director of basketball at the school.

Reeder is married and has a daughter, and doesn’t appear to have a criminal record. He passed a required background check to obtain his position at Servite.
