Starbucks Introduces the Mini Frappucino

Mini

Starbucks has always been thinking of new ways to indulge your coffee addiction and sweet tooth. There’s been the cookie straw, the vast array of flavored brew and frapps (there’s been S’mores, Birthday Cake, and let’s not forget the ever-hallowed seasonal Pumpkin Spice Latte), holiday gift cards and annual planners… the list goes on and on.

For frapp sizes, the Venti is worshipped as the ultimate indulgence for many lovers of the sweet beverage, However, Starbucks is rolling out a brand new size to thrill: say hello to the all new Mini Frappuccino, standing a few centimeters shorter than the regular Tall size, and carrying a we ten ounces compared to the Tall’s twelve. The Mini is also applicable to Starbucks’ many flavors of the sugary drink, so if you prefer your Minis in Matcha or Strawberry, baristas will be happy to serve it to you in their newest wee cup.

Katie Seawell, senior VP of category brand management at Starbucks, said the Mini did help lit sales in the select regional stores it debuted in last year. It certainly created a buzz around its local shops, and had customers coming back for more. Seawell hopes it will perform just as well on a larger scale.

Many weight watchers may be wondering, does a smaller size necessary mean fewer calories, though? Sans whipped cream, the Mini counts 120 calories and 24 grams of sugar. Compared to a Tall’s 180 calories and 36 grams of sugar and a Grande’s 240 calories and 50 grams of sugar, this may be Starbucks’ solution to calorie counters sweet-tooth craving.

Is the Mini here to stay for good, though? Seawell kept mum on the issue. However, we can safely say this petite size will be available from May 11 to July 6 in select stores across the US and Canada.
