This is a pretty interesting way to utilize an active Facebook fan base as well as reward friends with a special incentive.
Designer Norma Kamali is hosting a 48-hour pop-up shop on the social network, so those who like the designer but don’t actually “like” the designer in the Facebookian sense won’t be able to participate. Kamali’s pieces are available through Facebook alone in the sale, and are discounted very steeply in some places.
The concept of a fans-only sale that requires a “like” is compelling for many reasons, and it will be interesting to see how many more likes Kamali has tomorrow. I don’t believe I’ve seen an in-Facebook credit card processing page before this, either, and the one-page order format is very, very cool and uncluttered. Pick one of a few items, add your info and the sale is done.
Have you ever made a purchase solely due to Facebook marketing? Would you hang around and like the designer for future sales?
