See The Army That Takes Down Humanity In New ‘Dawn of The Planet Of The Apes’ Trailer

Planet Of The Apes Trailer

The one thing about the old Planet of The Apes movies that seemed least plausible to me wasn’t the fact that Apes were talking, walking and building bad movie sets. It was, how could these Apes with intelligence that, while improved over normal apes, still only managed to create a “medieval with guns” society, take down the human race?

It had a lot to do with our own failings of course, the old films made that clear, but still. How many Navy seals do you think it would take to bring down the entire town that the first Heston movie is based in? Seven? Eight, maybe? Two teams, for sure could do it.

So how did that final blow to humanity happen? The battle in the first Franco film gave us a glimpse of what these newly aware apes can do, but that was with the element of surprise, it wasn’t so much of a battle as an ambush and afterwards, the Apes fled to the safety of California’s Redwood National Park. Dawn of The Planet Of The Apes might not show us the final blow, they could save that for the 2016 film, but the new Dawn of The Planet of The Apes trailer does give us a a peak of the Apes’ capabilities as a war fighting machine.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes takes place ten years after the 2011 Franco Planet of the Apes movie and stars Gary Oldman and Keri Russell. It is set to release in July of this year.
