During last night’s heartbreaking mid-season finale of The Walking Dead, AMC threw every Breaking Bad fan a tasty little morsel. Roughly halfway through “Coda”, a sneak peak of Better Call Saul was delivered to the world. The gist of the show, in case you’re not up to speed, follows lowly criminal attorney Jimmy McGill as he becomes the seedy lawyer we all know and love (hate): Saul Goodman. Up until last night, the most we’ve seen of the new series has been a music video, some production stills and a teaser depicting a crappy motel room and its vibrating bed controlled by something called “Tingle Fingers”.
Thankfully, AMC dropped this new clip just at the right time. In it, we see Saul Goodman meet Mike Ehrmantraut for the first time. The video is only about a minute long but that’s enough time to show us that Mike went from police officer to parking garage attendant before throwing Goodman to the floor in this defense maneuver he pulls. Rumors have been making their rounds for a while that both Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul will make cameos throughout the series.
If either Walt or Jesse appeared for a split second in this video, the internet would have probably exploded. Alas, right now all we have is the burgeoning relationship between Saul and Mike. Even though, we all know the two end up working together, watching this all play out is just one of the details that will make Better Call Saul interesting TV. Here’s hoping it doesn’t disappoint! The new AMC series starring Bob Odenkirk and Jonathan Banks is set for a 2-night premiere on Sunday February 8th.
