Rejoice! You Can Now Study Pizza As a Real Course

Pizza

We know how pizza is great. It’s still as tasty a day old, and having it for breakfast in college is perfect.

How about cutting yourself a legit slice of that Awesome? Like, say, something along the lines of Pizza 101?

Students of the Manchester Metropolitan University in England are going to have the time of their lives as Pizza Hut offers 1,500 apprenticeships to study pizza. Students will debate on the merits of pan crust vs thin crust pizza or which toppings pack the most flavor. Aside from in-depth discussions of this cheesy crowd pleaser, students will also get a taste of how to run their own businesses, from food production to financial analysis.

Pizza Hut bosses say the combination of academic studies and a hands-on approach is geared to ‘to equip (candidates) with skills for life, not just for working in a restaurant’.

“The launch of our apprenticeships comes at an exciting time for our business as we continue to make headway in our refurbishment programme,” says Kathryn Austin, director of HR and marketing at Pizza Hut Restaurants. “Over the next few years we will work hard to provide our apprentices and team members with the best training and development so that we can equip them with skills for life, not just for working in a restaurant.”

Skills minister Nick Boles expounds further on the keen importance of apprenticeships in revitalizing the workforce and businesses. “Apprenticeships add value to our businesses and workforce right across the economy. These apprenticeships at Pizza Hut Restaurants will offer even more people the opportunity to gain skills and knowledge while working.

“I would encourage more businesses to take the lead from companies like Pizza Hut Restaurants to start or expand their apprenticeship programmes.”

No matter how you slice it, this course is one mouth-watering deal.
