If you happen to see a cute, furry groundhog roaming around New Hampshire, you might want to call the Merrimack Police Department. An arrest warrant has been issued for the one and only Punxsutawney Phil.
The Merrimack Police Department posted on Facebook yesterday that Punxsutawney Phil was wanted for aggravated winter. While the officers admitted that the groundhog correctly predicted six more weeks of winter, the groundhog is wanted for arrest for his failure to reveal that additional winter meant blizzards and mountains of snow.
We know we are a day early, however we here at Merrimack Police felt compelled to let the public know that there is a warrant for Punxsutawney Phil! We have received several complaints from the public that this little varmint is held up in a hole, warm and toasty. He told several people that Winter would last 6 more weeks, however he failed to disclose that it would consist of mountains of snow!
Police warned residents not to approach Punxsutawney Phil because he is considered “armed and dangerous.” Police may have Punxsutawney confused with the Wisconsin groundhog that bit the mayor earlier this month. Still, officers insist that people frustrated with the weather should not personally take it out any local groundhogs.
This isn’t the first time that Punxsutawney Phil has found himself in trouble. Last year the groundhog received death threats for announcing that there would be more winter.
