Thanks to Pinterest, creative recipes abound. As people plan the perfect April Fools Day pranks, it makes sense to incorporate food. There are plenty of creative ways to use food to trick friends and family. Not only are these pranks completely harmless and appropriate for any age, but most of them are delicious too!

1. Exploding Cake

Everyone loves cake and everyone will love this exploding cake prank. It is extremely easy and can be done with simple everyday items.

2. Mashed Potato Cookies

These harmless cookies look like tasty chocolate chip cookies, but are really made with mashed potatoes and black beans. Again, this prank is extremely easy to make. Just prepare mashed potatoes and stir in black beans. Place spoonfuls on a baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes or until golden brown. Serve them to unsuspecting friend and wait for their tastebuds to discover the trick.

3. Meat and Potato Sundae

Everyone loves a ice cream sundae, so this meat and potato sundae prank is sure to trick. All you need is a shredded meat of your choice with sauce and mashed potatoes. The plus to this trick is that the sundae is actually delicious. So, not only did you create an amazing prank, but you also prepared dinner! It’s a win-win!

4. Grilled Cheese Prank

This is another prank that will have a very delicious outcome. No one can resist a grilled cheese, so whip one of these and watch the hilarity ensue. Made with frosting and pound cake, the outcome will look just like a traditional grilled cheese.

Take two thin slices of pound cake and slightly brown each piece in a skillet. Spread orange frosting and sandwich it between the two pieces. Voila.

Another food prank that will trick the tastebuds and use up some of that poundcake you got to pull off the grilled cheese prank. Using hot dog shaped chunks of chocolate ice cream, create hot dogs with pound cake buns. Top with yellow and red frosting to look like mustard and ketchup.

7. Apple Fries

What goes perfect with a hot dog? Some delicious french fries, try apple french fries. Made with apples, cinnamon and sugar, the cleverly cut pieces of apple look just like a fresh batch of fries. Get even more clever and dip them in strawberry jam, which looks a lot like ketchup.

This is another meat and potatoes combination parading as a sweet treat, this prank is perfect as an April Fools’ dinner idea. Simply prepare a basic meatloaf recipe, except cook the meat in individual portions in a muffin tin. Once done, top each mini meatloaf with a dollop of mashed potatoes. Kids and adults alike with love this savory twist on the classic cupcake. You could even give your dinner guests the choice between the cupcake or the sundae.
