Pinterest saw growth in social sharing back in Q3 2013, and according to a new infographic from ShareThis, it was number one in social sharing growth for 2013.
Today, ShareThis published its quarterly Consumer Sharing Trends Report, and overall, social sharing on Pinterest increased 58 percent.
Facebook came in at 57 percent for 2013, LinkedIn at 40 percent, Twitter at 15 percent and email sharing declined 15 percent.
For the first time ever, Pinterest sharing surpassed email sharing in the fourth quarter.
The social network had the highest amount of active users in the Midwest, followed by the West, South and Northeast.
However, sharing is highest among users living in the Northeast.
Here are the most popular social networks by region based on activity:
- Facebook – West
- Twitter – Northeast
- Pinterest – Midwest
- LinkedIn – Northeast
- Instagram – Northeast
- Google+ – West
Compared to the rest of the U.S., sharing starts earlier in the day in the West, but drops more towards the evening.
Male Pinterest users share more in the West at 45 percent, compared to the rest of the U.S., and according to ShareThis, social sharing increased 37 percent year-over-year.
