Pinterest Drives More Traffic, But Visitors Click Less On Ads

Pinterest

Pinterest receives over 2.5 billion pageviews every month, and according to a new study by Yieldbot, it drives the most traffic of any social network.

The analytics platform found that although Pinterest drives more traffic, visitors from the social network are 45 percent less likely to click on ads.

However, while Facebook drove less traffic, its visitors are 60 percent more likely to click on ads.

Despite social networks helping to drive new traffic, on average, social media referrals perform 36 percent worse than another traffic sources.

From Yieldbot CEO Jonathan Mendez:

Social is so much worse than every other channel, though as you dig deeper you can see that Facebook drives most of the performance that is in that channel.

Earlier today, Pinterest announced it’s testing promoted pins, which will start appearing in search results, and category feeds.
