We’ve heard some house-sharing horror stories in our time. Like the guy who stole $15,000 from his roommate for porn, or the woman who’s dormmate had an extremely creepy obsession.
Still, if it’s possible, this latest story may have topped them all. A woman has angered the internet with her infuriating list of roommate rules, and we’ll be very surprised if anyone actually responds to her ad for a room in Finsbury Park, London.
The poster warns potential roommates that those already sharing the apartment aren’t particularly sociable, and that successful applicants will not be allowed to spend too long on the phone or in the bathroom.
The woman behind the ad also outlined the 12 rules she expects the new roommate to abide by if they don’t want to get kicked out.
This includes housemates staying away from the house during the standard 9 to 5, as the poster works from home and doesn’t want to be disturbed.
They also must be abnormally quiet, as laughing loudly is banned, as is watching TV or listening to music without headphones.
Other bizarre requests include monitoring how many times a day housemates go to the toilet, controlling their diet (beans, lentils, and beer are banned, as is cooking before 8:30am), and not allowing guests to visit more than three times a week.
Candidates must also have a full-time job and lots of hobbies, so they spend as little time at the apartment as possible.
Despite all of their strange requirements, the poster claims they’re “easy-going,” and the new roommate will enjoy living in the apartment, as long as they don’t break any of the rules.
Once the post made it’s way to social media, people were unsurprising shocked.
This made me feel ill.

This person needs to live by themselves because they don’t want someone else to actually do any living there. They just want someone to pay bills.

One of the best things about this is that you kinda feel this person getting angrier and angrier the more she’s writing rules.

Thanks, but no thanks.
