Pat Robertson To Ken Ham: Please, Just STFU [Video]

Controversial televangelist Pat Robertson has added his opinion to the diverse pool of reactions to Bill Nye’s recent debate with creationist Ken Ham. His comment? “STFU, Ken.”

The endlessly-quotable 700 Club host weighed in on this week’s Creation Museum debate on his program yesterday, but in a surprising twist, he sided with the Science Guy.

“Let’s face it, there was a bishop who added up the dates listed in Genesis and he came up with the world had been around for 6,000 years,” Robertson said. “There ain’t no way that’s possible. To say that it all came about in 6,000 years is just nonsense and I think it’s time we come off of that stuff and say this isn’t possible.”

He continued:

“We’ve got to be realistic that the dating of Bishop Ussher just doesn’t comport with anything that’s found in science, and you can’t just totally deny the geological formations that are out there.”

“Let’s be real,” Robertson scoffed, “let’s not make a joke of ourselves.”

Ham has seemingly been in damage-control mode since the debate, and has been answering his critics in the media on his personal Facebook page. He called Robertson’s remarks “really sad.”

Salon notes that Robertson and Ham have clashed before. In 2012, the Answers in Genesis CEO criticized Robertson for expressing doubt regarding the young-earth creation theory, and warned his listeners against being “led astray” by the televangelist’s “destructive teaching within the church.”
