Father Begs Facebook For Deceased Son’s ‘Look Back’ Video

Facebook Look Back

Earlier this week, Facebook gave its users something quite amazing. The sweet and poignant “Look Back” video option is a personalized look at a timeline of life events shared to the social network by you. But what if you had died recently and your family wanted to see your “Look Back” clip?

John Berlin asks Facebook for exactly that in the video posted above. In it, he explains how he lost his 22-year-old son Jesse just two years ago, and implores Mark Zuckerberg and the Facebook team to let him watch his son’s “Look Back” clip.

“You ever do something crazy because you just don’t know what to do anymore?” Berlin asks. “Well that’s what I’m doing right now.”

“I’m calling out to Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook. You’ve been putting out these new movies – these one minute movies that everyone has been sharing, and I think they’re great,” he continues. “My son passed away January 28th, 2012, and we can’t access his Facebook account … all we want to do is see his movie, that’s it.”

The video went viral, and has earned more than 750,000 views as of publishing time. It got Facebook’s attention, too.

“It worked I was just contacted by FB by phone and [they’re] going to make a vid just for us,” Berlin wrote on his Facebook page. “They also said they’re going to look at how they can better help families who have lost loved ones. [Thank you] friends and to FB.”

The video will be sent to Berlin personally, and will not be shared with the public by Facebook. A spokesperson said that the Facebook team is currently working on Jesse’s “Look Back” video and expects to have it ready by tonight or early tomorrow.
