“I used to do drugs. I still do, but I used to, too.” –The late, great Mitch Hedberg.
New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd doesn’t seem like someone who used to do drugs, but apparently she is someone willing to do them now. While staying at a hotel in Denver, Dowd decided she would experiment with the recently legalized drug in the most sure fire way to get someone super stoned: eating pot laced chocolate.
Dowd’s experience was not a pleasant one. She clearly took too much of the munchies inducing munchie and spent the next eight hours trying to recover from her ordeal, she then wrote a column advocating for better labeling on pot laced candy.
“But then I felt a scary shudder go through my body and brain. I barely made it from the desk to the bed, where I lay curled up in a hallucinatory state for the next eight hours. I was thirsty but couldn’t move to get water. Or even turn off the lights. I was panting and paranoid, sure that when the room-service waiter knocked and I didn’t answer, he’d call the police and have me arrested for being unable to handle my candy.
I strained to remember where I was or even what I was wearing, touching my green corduroy jeans and staring at the exposed-brick wall. As my paranoia deepened, I became convinced that I had died and no one was telling me.”
She may have a legitimate point on that front, but her inclusion of isolated incidents where suicidal or homicidal people just happened to have taken pot previous to their actions, along with the hilarious recanting of her experience made her name trend on Twitter, as well as termed the word “Dowding.”

Maureen Dowd, setting a standard for being impaired on the job that even I can't hope to meet.
