A new Twitter bot has been created that will alert you when your NCAA basketball game is getting close with under three minutes to go.
The tool is perfect sports fans stuck working during games. No longer will you have to check Twitter every minute for an update, now you can wait for the update to come to you!
.@thepapaya and I just made @NailbiterBot, which tweets an alert if an NCAA tournament game gets close with under three minutes to play.

Veltman says the Twitter bot initially used the NCAA scoreboard directly, but realized there was delay of a few minutes. He then decided to get data directly from the JSNOP file powering the scoreboard on NCAA.com.
The bot was an instant hit, causing demand for other sports to get a similar treatment. Next up could be baseball:
@jeremybowers @jennschiffer @thepapaya Might try to do it for MLB this season too!

@jeremybowers @jennschiffer @thepapaya Tweet whenever tying/go-ahead run is in scoring position in 9th w/ link to MLB audio. — Noah Veltman (@veltman) March 21, 2014
The Nailbiter Twitter bot is great if you need can’t follow every game at once, which chances are you can’t. With March Madness just getting interesting, the bot couldn’t have come out at a more perfect time.
