You might of seen The Food Medic on Instagram. The beautiful brunette fitness guru is much more than another pretty face. Dr. Hazel Wallace is saving lives during the day and changing the diet world by night.
Her Instagram feed is filling snapshots of her workouts at the gym and healthy meal ideas. However, it isn’t just a collection of unachievable photos like many other fitness bloggers. The Food Medic is dedicated to helping people meet realistic goals and live healthy lives. In fact, Wallace makes sure not to post expensive or hard to find foods or techniques.
“I love eating wholefoods, fresh fruit, vegetables and meat, but on the flipside I’m not the type of person who will say no to wine or chocolate even if it’s full of refined sugar and transfats. What I promote is balance,” 26-year-old Hazel told The Times.
Her favorite go-to healthy meals are completely doable, even for the busy working person. Recipes such as homemade chili and butternut squash noodles fill her personal blog page.
As such a relatable authority on fitness, Wallace has amassed more than 100,000 followers and has become nabbed sponsorships from Sweaty Betty and Origins.
Wallace has also written her own book. “The Food Medic, Recipes for Life and Fitness” is set to release in May. Wallace explains that she wrote it to change lives both as a medical doctor and personal trainer.
“I like to think of myself as one of the first of a new generation of doctors,” Wallace explains. “It is my mission to combine my knowledge as a doctor and a personal trainer, with my passion for nutrition, to debunk the myths that are out there, simplify healthy eating, and help people live healthier, happier, and longer lives.”
She continues to blog in her spare time between workout sessions and shifts at the hospital and she has no plans on stopping.
“The Food Medic is a product of who I am and what I do; I’m a practising doctor with a special interest in nutrition, and a qualified personal trainer,” she said.
