Is Mark Cuban the next Donald Sterling? You might think so if you read Bleacher Reports article ‘Cuban: ‘I Know I’m a Bigot.’ Well, maybe I should rephrase. You might think that Mark Cuban is a racist if you only read BR’s sensational article title.
Cuban recently gave an interview about the Donald Sterling situation and he made a few interesting comments. For one, Cuban admitted that he has some preconceived prejudices.
USA Today quotes Cuba saying: “I know I’m prejudiced, and I know I’m bigoted in a lot of different ways … If I see a black kid in a hoodie on my side of the street, I’ll move to the other side of the street. If I see a white guy with a shaved head and tattoos (on the side he now is on), I’ll move back to the other side of the street. None of us have pure thoughts; we all live in glass houses.”
Out of context, the quote could imply that Mark Cuban is a racist who judges people purely based on their appearances. But if you read the entire interview it’s clear what the Mavericks owner is saying: We all have flaws.
Cuban says: “There’s no law against stupid … I’m the one guy who says don’t force the stupid people to be quiet. I want to know who the morons are.”
Bleacher Report used similar quotes as USA Today and other publications that picked up the story but BR’s headline was more sensational than the rest. And for that, Cuban believes he’s owed an apology.

Bleacher Report did change the title of the article, it now reads Dallas Mavericks Owner Mark Cuban: ‘We All Have Our Prejudices and Bigotries,’ and added an editor’s note.
BR writes: “Editor’s note: The original headline on this article was changed to better represent the scope of Cuban’s remarks.”
Jim Cavan also responded to Cuban’s criticisms on Twitter.

BR wasn’t the only publication to upset Mark Cuban last night. The Mavs owner also took new media personality Bohamani Jones to task on Twitter.
