After an embarrassing, highly-publicized fake girlfriend scandal, Manti Te’o says he’s done with social media.
The former Notre Dame linebacker doesn’t think that his online “catfish” hoax will affect his chances in the upcoming NFL draft, but he’s still shutting down his Twitter and contemplating walking away from social media altogether.
Te’o has only talked to a couple of publications since his fake online relationship scam and yup, you guessed it, Social News Daily … was not one of them.
But, he told USA Today:
”I have to just go out there and perform and all that other stuff is behind me. What I did on the field is what I did on the field. I don’t think what I did with this whole situation, I don’t understand how it takes away from what I did on the field.
”As far as my stock dropping or rising, that’s not up to me. The only thing I have to do is just do well, run fast, just be myself, be quick.”
Te’o is training in Florida, and he is not currently dating. Still, he insists that he’s the same person as before the scandal.
”My trust in people is the same,” he said. ”I’m just more cautious.”
Do you think Manti Te’o can stay away from social media? Maybe he just needs a nice, long break. And a healthy relationship with an actual person.
