The LinkedIn Polls in Groups feature will officially come to a close on May 15. The move will mark the end to all LinkedIn-based polling features on the growing social enterprise network.
According to LinkedIn, the Polls in Groups feature will be removed alongside all data associated with previously created polls.
Originally introduced in December 2011, the polls were billed as “a simple way to unlock the insights of the members of the group.”
A notice posted on the enterprise network reads:
We’re continuously evaluating how our current products and features are used, and seeking new ways to focus our resources on building the best products. This sometimes results in the retirement of certain features.
In June 2013 LinkedIn ended the use of general polling features, an option that allowed users to create and share polls with their own followers. The company at the time decided to continue use of those same poll features for groups of users.
If you simply can’t do without LinkedIn polling, the team at The Next Web suggests Wedgies and Voice, those tools both allow polls on and off the network for a larger social media reach.
In the meantime, LinkedIn last week announced that it has now surpassed 300 million users.
Do you use LinkedIn Polls in Groups? Will you be sourcing your polls out to other third party networks when the current system comes to an end?
