LinkedIn Surpasses 300 Million Users

LinkedIn

LinkedIn has solidified itself as the go-to social network for business professionals, and today announced it’s surpassed 300 million users worldwide.

This is up from 250 million announced at the end of October 2013, but the company is far from reaching it’s goal.

Tweaked from The Social Network, we imagine a conversation went something like this:

“300 million users isn’t cool. You know what’s cool? 3 billion users.”

Over half of all LinkedIn users live outside of the U.S., and here are some quick stats:

  • 56 percent of users are male, 44 percent female
  • Currently five mobile apps: LinkedIn, Contacts, Pulse, Recruiter Mobile and SlideShare
  • IT and services still number one industry, but Hospital and Health Care, Construction, Education Management and Accounting finish out the top five
  • The top five countries are the U.S., India, Brazil, Great Britain and Canada

From LinkedIn SVP of Product Deep Nishar:

“We already have a strong presence around the world and will continue to invest in building out the experiences we offer to our members in key countries. Earlier this year, we expanded our presence in China with the launch of a beta version of our new Simplified Chinese site. Our goal is to connect the more than 140 million Chinese professionals with each other and the global workforce.”

Last week, LinkedIn announced new plans to work with recruiters, and help people find better jobs within their company.
