LinkedIn Bans Prostitution And Escort Services

LinkedIn Bans Escorts and Prostitutes

LinkedIn encourages professionals from all walks of life to use its social enterprise solutions. From McDonald’s cashiers to Fortune 500 executives the network is literally for everyone. Well … everyone except for prostitutes and escorts.

The social network added a new clause to its user agreement on Monday which specifically forbids certain “activities” on its network.

Specifically the user agreement reads that user should not undertake the following:

Upload, post, email, InMail, transmit or otherwise make available or initiate any content that: Even if it is legal where you are located, create profiles or provide content that promotes escort services or prostitution.

While LinkedIn has always provided a clause against the use of its network for “unlawful” activities it has never outright banned prositutes and escorts.

According to a rep for the social enterprise platform:

“In the old [user agreement], we had it covered by saying that one could not use a profile to promote anything ‘unlawful. However, in some countries, that activity actually is lawful.”

Sorry red light girls in the Amsterdam region this means you are still out of luck despite the legality of your profession.
