Klout, a service that uses ranking algorithms and semantic analysis to determine each users “influence” on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn has announced a new partnership with social marketing firm Involver.
Under the partnership Involver will offer brands a widget that can be placed on their Facebook pages which encourages users to engage with that brand. Businesses can then determine which of their users offer the most influence and those customers who engage with their brand the most before offering them discounts and other special offers. Company’s can even see which users have “influence” for certain products they may sell such as Smartphones or HDTVs.
The Klout widget must be installed by users but is available for free and with the promise of possible gifts and discounts it should be fairly simple for businesses to get their users on-board.
If nothing else the partnership will allow brands to reach out to individuals who actually have the “Klout” to spread the word about their products, rather than blanketing the web with gorilla marketing campaigns that can often be seen as intrusive and just outright annoying.
