@KanyeWestPuppet Is Bizarre, But Ridiculously Retweetable [Video]

Some of our tipsters have been seeing a lot of retweets from @KanyeWestPuppet over the past few days and dropped us a line to ask for the story behind this quirky account. We love eccentric/insane Twitter handles, so we did some digging.

The account is the brainchild of Loren Feldman, a web content developer whose company, 1938 Media, makes a habit of poking holes in pop/web culture, usually with puppets. He’s a bit of a controversial figure in web entertainment, called a “jester in the court of Web 2.0” by Tom Fremski of ZDNet and “Tech’s Last Angry Man” by Charles Cooper of c|net.

That’s all table-setting, but it’s kind of important. The gist is, he’s critical, hated, respected, and important.

Anyway.

@KanyeWestPuppet is more of a video project than a Twitter account. It’s a 1938 Media product, kind of like Feldman’s film #SoMe, a poignant flick about “friendship in the social media age” (worth the watch).

Feldman tells me that Kanye West Puppet was created to “mock websites” like “Buzzfeed, HuffPo, TMZ, Gawker, Etc.” and indeed, @KanyeWestPuppet’s tweets read like subtle, Dadaist takedowns of pop culture if you read between the lines.

See what I mean about being ridiculously retweetable?
