Justin Bieber On Track To Smoke Lady Gaga On Twitter

Pot isn’t the only thing Justin Bieber is smoking. The teen idol is set to make Twitter history this weekend, as he’s expected to beat Lady Gaga as the most followed person on the popular microblogging site.

Twitter Counter, the #1 stats site which tracks and analyzes Twitter usage, said on Thursday that Bieber is set to overtake Lady Gaga around 4:23pm on Saturday as the most followed person on the social network.

“For now, Lady Gaga is in the lead in follows alone,” it said in an email. “Bieber’s account, however, is growing at a faster rate.”

Lady Gaga has sat comfortably at the top of Twitter since August 2010 when she beat fellow pop star Britney Spears, reports MSN. As it stands, Gaga has 33,159,886 followers to Bieber’s 33,102,814.

Lady Gaga’s influence has slowed on social media in recent months, with the recent removal of fake “likes” on Facebook taking a toll on the American pop star most of all. She reportedly lost roughly 65,000 fans after the purge.
