The situation in Ferguson, Missouri is, well, terrifying. Protestors have been greeted with tear gas, rubber bullets, and armored vehicles, and it doesn’t look like the situation is going to end anytime soon. This has a lot of people, like John Legend, very worried.
Like many people, Legend has been posting his views and retweeting messages about the situation in Ferguson on Twitter.
So the police have:
1) Killed an unarmed teen
2) Fired tear gas & rubber bullets at mostly peaceful protesters
3) Arrested & blocked media

People confused about the right wing's lack of solidarity with #ferguson, you may not have taken racism into account.

Even if you're concerned about law and order here it's hard to understand how officers in sniper positions will calm tensions in #Ferguson

I believe these cops are intentionally trying to inflame the situation. They want an excuse.

Recall the local cop telling those "animals" to "bring it" on CNN… He wants a fight.

Things got interesting last night when he was called out by a news station.

That’s right John Legend, you’re not allowed to have an opinion. Oh wait…

IBBN News initially seemed apologetic about the tweet and promised to delete it in the morning.
I just got a phone call that my "Twitter person" was doing something she should not have done. Please accept my apology, #goneintheam

But then they realized that it was getting a lot of attention and tried to capitalize on the controversy.
Keep it going, make me trend.

John Legend didn’t engage with the online news station again but he has been responding to other people on Twitter.
People & Celebrities like @johnlegend proliferating misinformation is just as bad for the problems going on as anything else.
— Johnny (@SkaeJ) August 14, 2014
@SkaeJ yep, i'm the root of this fucking problem.
— John Legend (@johnlegend) August 14, 2014
@johnlegend Mr. Legend, don't make this about racism. Its not whites vs blacks. Is this helping to ease tentions? #Ferguson
— Polish Prince (@Ochapski) August 14, 2014
@Ochapski This is about racism. I hate to break it to you, my friend.
— John Legend (@johnlegend) August 14, 2014
Do you have a problem with celebrities like John Legend voicing their opinion on social issues?
