This past Saturday was Record Store Day, and while millions were out buying sweet records, rocker Jack White was busying creating one to set a new world record.
White’s goal? To beat the record for world’s fastest released record, which he and his team at Third Man Records accomplished in three hours, 55 minutes and 21 seconds.
Today, Third Man Records posted a YouTube video (featured above) giving a recap of the record-breaking attempt, and all the work involved behind the scenes to make it happen.
Of course, we get to see Jack White jamming out live starting around the two-minute mark, and here and there throughout the video.
After finishing up his set and giving fans a unique one-of-a-kind experience, White jumps into a Suburban to go and assist with the production of the record.
From Rolling Stone on the day of the major undertaking:
“The two songs were cut directly to acetate, and the masters were rushed from the Blue Room to United Record Pressing to make the 45s, with a sleeve featuring photos taken during the performance. United will continue pressing and delivering the record today as long as fans line up to buy it.”
Jack White’s upcoming album Lazaretto is scheduled for release on June 10, and you can check out the first two singles below.
