Iowa GOP Posts Racism Flowchart On Facebook, Blames Private Contractor

Iowa Racist Flowchart

Are you a racist? Are you not sure if you are a racist? For a short period of time on Friday night the Iowa Republican Party’s Facebook page tried to answer that question for its constituents. The political group posted a racism flowchart on its official Facebook account and then quickly pulled the infographic.

Titled “Is someone a racist?,” the chart was meant to poke fun at the racism debate, of course as we know poking fun at racism is never a good idea in a public forum.

After pulling the Facebook post Iowa Republican Party chairman A.J. Spiker apologized in a new Facebook post, writing, “Earlier tonight, a contractor of the Iowa GOP made a post referencing a discussion on race that the GOP believes was in bad taste and inappropriate. We apologize to those whom were offended, have removed the post and are ensuring it does not happen again.”

The Grand Ole Party is no stranger to questionable Facebook posts about race. On December 1 the party posted a Rosa Parks message that led to outrage before it was pulled.

Do you buy the “private contractor” excuse used by the Iowa Republican Party?
