Team USA launched its official app for the upcoming Sochi Olympics. It includes new features like “My Team USA” and a “Cheer” function that allows users to send a message to their favorite athlete. The app is available on Google Play and the iTunes Store.
Once it is downloaded, users can look at in-depth bios for the entire US Olympic and Paralympic teams. They can also follow along with behind-the-scenes video and photos as the athletes compete for Gold on the slopes and in the arenas in front of thousands of people from around the world.
The app, called “2014 Team USA Road to Sochi” also allows users to see a schedule of events, from qualifying runs and the opening ceremonies to NBC primetime showings.
Under the “My Team USA” section, it is easy to look up favorite athletes and customize a portal of social media feeds and latest news. The “Cheer” function lets users chat with their favorite athletes in real-time through their Facebook and Twitter feeds. In order to use the app for Facebook and Twitter, users must connect their profiles under the settings button.
The opening ceremonies for the 2014 Sochi Olympics are on February 7. Coverage begins on the 6th with qualifying rounds.
