Comedian Deepak Sethi just might be our viral video hero of the week (yes, I know it’s only Monday) thanks to this awesome clip of him handling a heckler with grace, aplomb, and oh yeah, humor.
The situation was this: Sethi (who is of Indian descent) asked the audience if there was anyone present who had served in the U.S. military. One guy cheered and shouted “we’re coming for ya!” which left Sethi in an awkward position. Was this an intentionally racial comment made by this anonymous service member? If it was how do you reprimand a member of the armed forces for such an ignorant comment? Of course, military service isn’t a license to rattle off horrible bullshit, but between solider and brown comedian, who is this L.A. audience going to go for?
Prickly situation indeed. Check out how Sethi handled it above. This video, published to YouTube in early December 2013, is going viral today thanks to reddit.
