Greg Louganis Twitter Engagement Announcement

Greg Louganis is engaged to Johnny Chaillot and the American diving legend confirmed his good news on Twitter.

PEOPLE Magazine first announced that Louganis was believed to be preparing for matrimony but a confirmation was not forthcoming.

On Monday night the diver posted the following tweets:

Louganis gained national attention after winning four gold medals in the 1984 and 1988 Olympics. It was his 1988 springboard gold that gained him international recognition. After hitting his head on the diving board and sustaining a concussion Greg Louganis went on to win the gold medal. Louganis came out as gay in 1995 and then announced his position as an announcer for the Gay Games. One year later Greg Louganis announced that he was HIV-positive.

After announcing his engagement friends and admirers of Greg Louganis came out en masse to congratulate him and Chaillot:

Congrats to Greg Louganis and Johnny Chaillot on their future nuptials.
